As an agronomist with focus in soil science and plant nutrition, my main research interest is to investigate the impact of organic residues and sustainable agricultural practices on the nutrient supply to crops and long-term soil fertility mainteance. My PhD research was developed in the Sustainable Agroecosystems group in colaboration with the International Potato Center of Mozambique, where the research project and experiments took place. During my doctorate I worked with orange-fleshsed sweetpotato, an important and nutritious staple food for Mozambican families, testing locally-sourced organic amendments and agroecological practices for improved plant performance and soil fertility management.
Currently at SAE I am interested in learning more about the soil microbial responses to environmental changes and agricultural practices. I support laboratory and research work in projects developed by the SAE group and collaborators involving molecular biology techniques.
