Palm oil value chain

This role-playing game on the topic of palm oil allows participants to understand the ecological and socio-economic challenges of the palm oil value chain.

The game was originally developed as a scientific tool within the scope of the external pageOPAL project, led by the group of Prof. Jaboury Ghazoul and Dr. Claude Garcia from the Chair of Ecosystem Management at ETH Zurich. In 2017, it was adapted to German for Swiss secondary school level by Manuel Stamm as a part of his external pageBachelor thesis project, and awarded third prize of the external pageDeutscher Planspielpreis in 2019. Today, it represents an independent didactic tool and is being used on a regular basis in both teacher schools and secondary schools in Switzerland.
The teacher’s manual below contains detailed descriptions of the role-playing game as well as all necessary information to master the game by oneself. Furthermore, various documents for teaching are available. All documents are freely available under this external pageCreative Commons License

Availability of game boxes
