Dr. Kenza Benabderrazik

Descriptive

Kenza is a lecturer and outreach project coordinator for the Sustainable agroecosystems Group. With a great enthusiasm and interest in environmental and food systems, Kenza is contributing to the development and the implementation of undergraduate and graduate curriculum at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences in the Department of Environmental Systems Science. Along the teaching activities, Kenza coordinates the art-science project “Edible research goes storytelling: Participative design of an interactive art-science exhibition on food value chains” that aims at facilitating an intensive dialogue about the importance of sustainable food systems for food security around the world.

Kenza joined the SAE group as a PhD student in summer 2016. For her doctoral research, Kenza focused on ways to operationalize the resilience of tomato producers in Morocco and Ghana in face of climate change and market price variability. This project was partly funded by the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship for Foreign students. Furthermore, Kenza participated as a research and field assistant for the flagship project “Enhancing Resilience in Food System” of the World Food System Center; collaborating on the AERTCvc project, to assess and enhance resilience in Teff and Cocoa value chain, in Ethiopia and Ghana.

Before diving into academia, from 2012 to 2016, Kenza worked as an environmental engineer, consulting on various projects related to environmental impact assessment, resource efficiency and circular economy in various countries including Morocco, Tunisia, Switzerland, India, Burkina Faso.
